First, you'll need to choose your prime rib roast by selecting one that has plenty of marbling. Marbling is the amount of fat in the cut, and it's what gives the roast its amazing flavor.
Next, you'll need to season your prime rib with salt and pepper, then place it on a roasting pan with a rack. This will help hold the juices inside while cooking. Preheat your oven to 500F, then insert a meat thermometer into the thickest part of the roast.
Bake your prime rib at 500F for 15 minutes, then reduce oven temperature to 325F and continue baking until internal temperature reads 125-135F (about 2 hours). Once done cooking, let your prime rib rest for 10-15 minutes before carving.
