The holiday season is finally here and what better way to celebrate than with a delicious and savory roasted turkey! Preparing a turkey doesn't have to be a daunting task. All you need is a little know-how, and you’ll have a delicious holiday dinner in no time.

Generally speaking, figure around 15 minutes per pound. Once you know the approximate cooking time, take your turkey out of the fridge, season it inside and out with your favorite herbs, salt, and pepper. Then, stuff the cavity with whatever aromatics you have on hand (celery, onions, garlic, herbs).
When your oven is preheated to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, place the turkey breast side up on a roasting pan and cover it with a loose tent of foil. Baste the turkey every hour or so and after two-thirds of the cooking time, remove the foil and increase the heat of your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Keep roasting the turkey, uncovered, until a meat thermometer inserted in the thickest part of the breast registers 165 degrees Fahrenheit and in the thigh area reaches at least 175 degrees Fahrenheit.
When your turkey is done cooking, allow it to rest at least 15 minutes before carving. Enjoy your homemade turkey feast!
